Mor-Lite was given the responsibility of providing a lighting system for a 400,000 square foot manufacturing plant as part of a major renovation. The basic building shell was retained while all machinery, equipment and lighting were replaced. Mor-Lite's approach, as in every project, was to:- reduce operating cost
and at the same time - improve light levels
The original lighting system of 4,421 two-lamp fluorescent fixtures was replaced with 2,665 strategically placed single-lamp fluorescent fixtures. Directional control was enhanced with Mor-Lite's powerful reflectors, custom-designed for each production process.
Mor-Lite relied on its 15 years of lighting experience to identify illumination priorities. Extensive use of perimeter lighting enhanced visual comfort.
MOR-LITE RESULTS:
- Lighting electrical load was reduced from 686.3 kW to 223.9 kW.
- Annual operating costs of $240,493 were driven down to $78,441.
- Light levels increased in all areas of the plant and doubled on most production machines.
- Overall lighting load dropped to .56 watts per square foot of floor space.
